Trillo de la Danta (Tapir's Trail) – Jungle Hiking Experience

Just 30 minutes from Drake Bay, within the 2,500 square kilometers of the Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve, lies the small rural community of Los Planes, which borders Corcovado National Park, home to the ranger station of the same name. The area is known for its stunning landscapes and the warm hospitality of its people.

Experience the diversity and beauty of primary rainforest on this full-day tour.

Towering trees, a diverse array of vegetation, exotic wildlife, and the fresh tropical air combine to create a truly breathtaking natural paradise.

Hike along the station’s trails, passing through primary and secondary rainforest, and, if you’re lucky, spot animals such as collared peccaries, coatis, agoutis, tapirs, and sloths. You’ll also have the chance to observe a rich variety of birdlife, including scarlet macaws, toucans, hawks, falcons, and hummingbirds, or watch white-faced and howler monkeys skillfully move through the treetops.

The tour ends with a refreshing visit to a natural pool near a waterfall, where you can relax and cool off in its crystal-clear waters.
